On Tuesday, 17 November 2015, the NBF’s Africa Investment and Integration Desk (AVID) hosted its first steering committee meeting, which invited key role-players that included potential members of the desk, international investment organisations and private companies looking to unlock projects and investment opportunities in Africa.
The AVID presented a teaser on Ethiopia as a potential country of interest for the desk’s initial activities. Supported by the NBF’s recent establishment of an Ethiopian office, trade mission to Addis Ababa and MoU with the African Union, AVID operations in Ethiopia will have political support at a national level and operational support at a local level.
The steering committee meeting follows the launch of the desk in August 2015 with seed funding provided by the Export Credit Insurance Corporation (ECIC). Currently, the desk is arranging meetings with institutions and organisations that have expressed an interest to become AVID members and will be presenting its first project pipeline early in 2016.
